It’s a case that’s garnered national attention, even international attention. Last year’s trial of Monsignor Lynn and priest, Father James Brennan, ended in a guilty verdict for Lynn and a retrial for Brennan which will occur later this year.

Lynn was found guilty of endangering the welfare of children. The jury in his case did not believe that he did all he could to protect innocent children from known or reasonably suspected sexually abusive priests.

Earlier this year, Bernard Shero and his co-defendant, Charles Engelhardt, were found guilty of various child sex abuse related charges. Read the latest about the Philadelphia Catholic Church scandal and criminal cases here.

Shero was a teacher at a Catholic school in Philadelphia. He was tried with a co-defendant, Charles Engelhardt. The same jury which found Engelhardt guilty also found Shero guilty of the following 5 charges:

  • Rape of a Child
  • Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse
  • Endangering Welfare of Children
  • Corruption Of Minors
  • Indecent Assault Person Less than 13 Years of Age

Sentencing for Bernard Shero is scheduled for 4/18/13.
