Lawsuits Against Massage Envy – A Call for Witnesses to Come Forward
Mr. Kent has filed several lawsuits alleging that the national chain is legally responsible for creating a culture of sexual violence. Cases have been filed in Pennsylvania and South Carolina. Additional cases are expected to be filed in New York, California, Florida and other states.
It’s alleged that the chain suppressed reports of massage therapists fondling clients during massage sessions. This in turn created a situation where predators were free to victimize additional, unsuspecting clients.

Pennsylvania Massage Therapist Sex Assault Lawsuits
Under Pennsylvania law, massage therapy businesses like spas, wellness centers, etc., may be held liable if a massage therapist commits sexual assault of a client during a massage. The key is whether the business either had prior knowledge of the specific therapist’s behavior or at least should have known about the conduct. It’s critical to investigate prior complaints made against the therapist and other employees, the business’ policy regarding reporting of such behavior, etc.
Oftentimes, victims of abuse can receive financial compensation for their mental and emotional suffering.
