Ensure You Have the Best Lawyer

Naturally, everyone who needs a lawyer wants to find the best attorney for their case. However, there is no single best lawyer for every type of case. Cases are absolutely unique, and lawyers are very different from each other. Finding the best lawyer usually requires two things: 1. finding a lawyer with a solid reputation and enough experience handling that type of case, and 2. finding a lawyer who treats clients with respect.

Cases We Accept

Work Injuries

Our lawyers are committed to protecting the legal rights of injured workers. Firm founder Jeff Laffey is the proud son of a union carpenter who was raised on the “union dime.” Since graduating from law school in 1998, Mr. Laffey has concentrated his legal practice on representing injured workers. He and his fellow partners are passionate about workplace safety. Firm founder Paul Bucci has also concentrated his legal practice on work injury cases. He helped litigate one of the largest construction accident settlements in U.S. history – the Tropicana Hotel garage collapse case. The case resulted in $101 million settlement.

Our work injury and accident lawyers will review your case to determine whether there is a viable work injury lawsuit against non-employer parties. These claims are often referred to as “third party cases” and are separate from workers’ compensation claims. An astonishing majority of injured workers tend to assume that the only compensation they can receive after a work injury is workers’ comp benefits. This is completely untrue. Injured workers have legal rights independent of any workers’ compensation claims. This often requires intensive review of the workplace and applicable OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration) regulations. If there is a viable case, rest assured that our work injury lawyers will not stop until you and your family receive the financial compensation you deserve. Crime Victim Injuries

Our law firm is also committed to helping victims of crime in the civil courts. Firm founder Brian Kent is a former sex crimes unit prosecutor with the Montgomery County, PA District Attorney’s Office where he prosecuted dozens of sex offenders. Since entering private practice, Mr. Kent has devoted much of his life to helping victims and their families navigate the civil justice system and obtain monetary compensation against perpetrators and other individuals and business entities.

In one high-profile case, Mr. Kent represented a man who was sexually abused when he was in the 6th grade. The perpetrator went on to become a state court judge in Delaware. Despite the fact that other attorneys refused to take the civil case, Mr. Kent and his firm bravely agreed to take the case. Even though the case was beyond the criminal statute of limitations, the civil case was successful. Ulimately, the judge admitted to the abuse, was removed from the bench and was subsequently disbarred from practicing law. Without the case, the judge might still be on the bench. Premises Accident Injuries

Our lawyers handle premises accident cases such as fall down accidents, hotel injury cases, and alcohol-DUI injury cases against bars and restaurants. These kinds of cases often require a thorough evaluation in order to determine whether there is sufficient evidence of negligence. We work with our clients and their families to obtain evidence of negligence for the best chances of success. Oftentimes, these cases require investigation and experts.

In addition, other parties are often liable. For example, a security company hired by a bar and club may be liable for failing to prevent a bar fight that results in serious injuries to a customer. Our firm spares no expense in the pursuit of justice for their clients.

Other Areas

Our firm also handles a variety of other injury and accident matters, including auto accidents, medical malpractice, defective product injuries and brain injuries. Below are some case results for auto injuries, medical malpractice and defective product cases.

  • $3 millionSurgical infection, medical malpractice case in Philadelphia (January 2014)

What to Expect at Laffey, Bucci & Kent – How Your Injury Case Will be Handled

1. Quality, Client-Focused Representation

The lawyers at the firm pride themselves on doing right by their clients.  They recognize the plight which seriously injured accident victims, crime victims, and their families find themselves in.  The physical, mental, emotional and financial effects of injury and crime can be devastating.  They take all measures, both legal and personal, to ensure their client’s dignity, security and satisfaction not only with the result but also throughout the process.

2. Initial Meeting & Evaluation

Our personal injury lawyers can’t accept every single case. They believe in individual attention and client-based representation. Taking every case would sacrifice their ability to provide a high level of service and attention to each client.  After the initial phone call/intake, the lawyers will decide whether to proceed with the next step-the initial meeting.

At the initial meeting, one or more of the partners will meet with prospective clients and their families to discuss the case. Our lawyers can and do meet with clients at their homes or in hospitals.  They also have offices in Philadelphia, Plymouth Meeting, Cherry Hill, Atlantic City, Iselin, Wilmington and Manhattan.

After the initial meeting, the partners will decide whether to take the case. This decision can take time, as investigation and document review are often necessary.  Once a decision is made, the partners will discuss their decision with the client and the family. If the firm cannot take the case, they will also discuss other possible avenues.

3. Client Coordinator

All clients at Laffey, Bucci & Kent are assigned a client coordinator whose role is to help our clients and their families.  Our client coordinator helps to answer any questions, provides frequent updates, and helps the clients and their families coordinate medical treatment and documents.

The road to justice after a serious accident is a long and difficult one, and our lawyers are there to guide their clients each step of the way.
