The reality is that sex abuse by teachers is a major problem in this country, and Pennsylvania is no exception. Over the last few years, many Pennsylvania school teachers have faced charges of sexually abusing or assaulting students. In many of those cases, the teachers were found guilty and sentenced.

Pennsylvania has a serious school sex abuse problem. In fact, it seems that Pennsylvania leads the country in terms of the number of teachers arrested for student sex abuse. In 2014, roughly 460 teachers in the U.S. were arrested and charged with sexually abusing a student; that’s an average of about 9 teachers per state. However, in 2014, 20 Pennsylvania teachers were arrested for sexual misconduct with a student. That’s double the national state average for the 2014 calendar year.

There have been two recent, particularly troubling cases which have come out of Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Bucks County is a suburb of Philadelphia, located north of the city limits. Its largest cities and towns include Bensalem, Levittown, Yardley and Doylestown, the county seat.
