Baptist News Global recently published an article about a dispute over the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC)’s alleged mishandling of sexual abuse claims.
The dispute began with an argument on Twitter between Dean Inserra, lead pastor of City Church in Tallahassee, Fla., Joshua Wester, an associate pastor at Redemption Church in Mobile, Ala., and Hannah-Kate Williams. A survivor of childhood sexual abuse, Williams filed a lawsuit against Southern Baptist Convention leaders for their alleged failure to investigate and handle reports of sexual abuse. This argument prompted Williams’ friend Abby Osborne to leak audio of a conversation that took place between Williams, Inserra, and Wester regarding the SBC’s response to Williams’ allegations.
Guy D’Andrea of LBK and Vanessa Cantley of the Louisville, heucky firm of Bahe, Cook, Cantley and Nefzger represent Williams in this lawsuit.
