Special Ed Teacher Convicted of Possessing Child Porn

Earlier this month, a teacher from Herndon, Virginia was convicted of receiving and possessing child pornography. According to an online press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia, 27 year old Robert Fenn was convicted of one count each of receiving child pornography and possession of child pornography.

Fenn’s computer contained images of young girls, and he admitted being interested in young girls between the ages of 9 and 14. He was a special education teacher at a local elementary school and also taught music classes in private homes. He faces a maximum of 30 years in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for this summer.

The investigation is part of Project Safe Childhood, a national initiative of the Department of Justice. The project aims to locate and prosecute those who create, receive and possess child pornography.

Also this month, another Virginia man was found guilty and sentenced for receiving child pornography. According to another press release by the same U.S. Attorney’s Office, 60 year old Michael Baynes ordered two discs of child pornography from a Canadian company. Alarmingly, he had access to children – he worked at a private school and for a county rec department.
